Do it yourself pinata costume took longer than I initially thought. It was a hit in terms of homemade costumes, although some people at the party didn’t know what I was!
I bought a cheap armored pinata costume at a discount store and then bought a ton of crepe paper streamers. After cutting all the margins on them, the slowest part of the process, I put in a few pieces to determine the color location. I wanted it to feel random but, at the same time, organized, and like a Mexican festival.

DIY Piñata Costume
We looked for a tutorial to follow roughly, and after hours it was worth it. The materials we purchased for do it yourself pinata costume were figure-hugging gray dresses, rolls of different colored crepe paper streamers, and fabric glue. We cut the streamers into strips, cut fringes on them, and then glue them to the clothes with fabric glue. For each of the ears, we took two paper-mâché cones, fringed them, and hot glued them to a thin plastic headband. I hope you like our photos!

Will need:
- One buttoned shirt, preferably one you don’t mind
- One rock, another that you don’t care
- Different colors of streamers.
- 1 1/2 “wide ribbon
- Scissors
- Halloween animal ears
I stretched the dress with a long art canvas wrapped in plastic, but I’m sure anything would work. Then I started applying the crepe paper with fabric glue, two strips of each color at a time.
I’ve only burned myself about ten times, and I’m pretty sure I’ve created quite a few grown-up words!
It was so much fun creating this do it yourself piñata costume for a little boy. Good luck with you
